The Frenchman reckons goal-happy City are due a slip-up because he says they have been getting all the breaks – even in their 5-1 midweek thrashing of Tottenham.
Wenger believes that the Blues' luck has to change and he even suggested people are getting carried away in their praise of Manuel Pellegrini’s title favourites.
“At the moment, they are on fire. But people are always tempted to go to definite conclusions after one game," he said. “Of course they had an impressive win, and a great quality game at Tottenham. But if you analyse it well, this game could have turned.
“All the turning points went in their favour. If they had not, you are not sure they would have won the game.
“What is for sure is we have played 23 games, and we are one point behind Man City. We are in a better situation than we were after four games.
“I believe we can [be champions] if we keep the consistency and manage to win the big games - one of them will be Man City at home. Of course that will be very important.
“Our game on Sunday [at home to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace] is a great opportunity to win our game to respond to our draw at Southampton and come back and win the game.
Do you think Arsene Wenger is right?
