John Bercow begs wife

John Bercow has begged his wife Sally to get professional help for the drinking which he fears is putting their marriage in jeopardy, The Mail on Sunday understands. 

But friends of the Commons Speaker say he has been left ‘distraught’ by her refusal to take his advice.


It follows the publication last week of astonishing pictures showing Mrs Bercow kissing professional dancer Clinton Baugh in a London nightclub.

The 44-year-old mother of three has insisted that the two-minute clinch with Mr Baugh was innocent, and had been ‘taken out of context’.


However, Mr Bercow’s friends say that it is just the latest example of his wife’s erratic behaviour.

 Pictures of Mrs Bercow and Mr Baugh, 49, were taken at the No 5 Cavendish Square nightclub last weekend, during a party hosted by reality TV personalities Calum Best and Chloe Sims. 

Mrs Bercow responded to publication of the pictures by saying: ‘I don’t need to apologise to John, I’ve done nothing wrong. My marriage is my business.
 
'I couldn’t give a damn what people think. Let people judge me if they want. The guy in the picture is a friend. End of.’
