Ebola Patient Dies In US

The first person to be diagnosed with Ebola within the US has died, Texas hospital officials have said.

Thomas Eric Duncan, 42, who caught the virus in his native Liberia, was being treated with an experimental drug in isolation in a Dallas hospital.

Earlier the US announced new screening measures at entry points to check travellers for symptoms of the virus.

Four-year-old Omonigho Abraham is currently battling for his life at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, after his scalp was eaten by two dogs.

The immediate elder brother of the victim, seven-year-old Osemudiamen, told PUNCH that the dogs had chased him, Omonigho and their elder brother, Bobby, while they were taking turns to ride a bicycle.

He said, “We were riding a bicycle in the compound when the big dogs ─ Jack and Gadaffi ─ started barking at us. Later, they moved towards us.

 Only once before has a monkey been seen acting as a midwife to another. In 2013, another group of scientists documented a black and white snub-nosed monkey aiding another in childbirth.

 Initially, the midwife monkey sat and watched as the younger monkey experienced more than 70 contractions.

 She approached only once the baby’s head and shoulders had appeared.Within 18 seconds, she had completely pulled the baby from the mother’s birth canal.

Man 'Killed Twin Brother'

A man accused of murdering his twin brother in a knife attack on New Year's Eve had a drunken argument with his sibling, a court has heard.

Robert Cerqua is accused of killing his identical twin, Christopher, with a single stab wound to his stomach at the family home in Hythe in Hampshire.

Appearing at Winchester Crown Court, Mr Cerqua, 31, denies murder.

The extraordinary synod lasts two weeks and a follow-up meeting will be held next year.

Man Marries Stepmom!

A man in France has married his father's former wife, after a court battle that lasted for months.

The wedding of Eric Holder, 45, and his former stepmother Elisabeth Lorentz, 48, took place in the north-eastern village of Dabo, near the city of Metz.

The ex-husband of the bride, Mr Holder's father, was also reportedly among dozens of guests at the ceremony.

Liberia To Prosecute Ebola Man

Liberian authorities say they will prosecute Eric Duncan, the Liberian man diagnosed with Ebola in the US once he finishes his treatment in America and returns home.

"We wish him a speedy recovery; we await his arrival in Liberia to face prosecution" Binyah Kesselly, chairman of the board of directors of the Liberia Airport Authority said.

ISIS Beheads British Hostage

A Videdeo purporting to show UK hostage Alan Henning being beheaded has been released by Islamic State militants.

The Salford taxi driver was delivering aid to Syria in December when he was kidnapped and then held hostage by ISIS.

IS threatened to kill him in footage last month showing the death of Briton David Haines, and in this video they threaten US aid worker Peter Kassig.

'Jesus' Found In Spain

Archaeologists in Spain say they have found one of the world's earliest known images of Jesus. It is engraved on a glass plate dating back to the 4th Century AD, reports from Spain say.

The plate is believed to have been used to hold Eucharistic bread as it was consecrated in early Christian rituals. It measures 22cm in diameter and fragments of it were unearthed outside the southern Spanish city of Linares, ABC newspaper reports.

Thieves Caught In Action

Dramatic footage has been released showing thieves stealing a cash machine before their vehicle is rammed and stopped by a police car.

CCTV shows the masked gang tying a tow rope around the machine at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, and pulling it free using a 4x4 vehicle.

Joe received a 41-month sentence, while Teresa Giudice was awaiting her sentencing as The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars heard their punishments in Newark federal court Thursday, in their conspiracy and bankruptcy fraud conviction.

Spider Bite Leads To Amputation

A woman has had her finger amputated after being bitten by a false widow spider.

Andrea Wallace, from Seaham, County Durham, was bitten in a Sunderland park and described the result as "like something out of a horror movie".

The attack left her with flesh-eating bug necrotising fasciitis, which required 10 weeks in hospital.

The "Wiggle" singer called into "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Monday, where he "cleared the air" about his split from the "American Idol" alum.

With tons of rumors floating around the web since news broke of the breakup, the R&B singer wanted to set the record straight about his fallout with Sparks.

"I’m not one to throw my business out on the street, but I thought it was important because things are getting a little out of hand," he told Ryan.

"I’m seeing all kind of  stories about somebody getting pregnant, infidelity, things like me calling it off because of me being too busy and because of my newfound success," he continued.

"What happened … in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons. Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage. There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad bad times, it’s time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy," he explained.

The 25-year-old -- who's dated Jordin for the last three years and even wrote a song for Sparks titled "Marry Me" -- told us earlier this year that the the ballad was supposed to signify his devotion to the "Battlefield" singer, but ended up generating way too much media speculation about their relationship.

So are the exes still on good terms?

"I wouldn’t say good terms," Jason confessed. "I’ll be lying if I said that, but it’s not a bad situation. There’s no bad blood. We didn’t end off on a weird way or a negative way. It’s not like we’re hitting each other up, like, ‘Hey, what are you doing today?'"

Derulo also revealed that their relationship became more of an "obligation" than a partnership.

"Three years … very long time. I think sometimes you can be in a relationship so long, it becomes a part of your life and you feel like you’re obligated. And when you start feeling obligated and you start feeling like it’s something you have to do because it’s necessary, like breathing, that’s not a good situation either. Phelps Arrested For DUI

According to TMZ, Michael Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence in Baltimore, Maryland early this morning.
 

The USA Olympic legend was pulled over around 1:40 AM in his white Land Rover. We're told he bombed his field sobriety test ... and his B.A.C. was almost twice the legal limit.

Officials just issued a statement saying Phelps was initially pulled over for going 84 in a 45 ... and during the stop, the officer noticed he was hammered.

 Phelps was hauled to a nearby station where he was booked for DUI -- and was eventually released.

Cops say Phelps was charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines.
It's Michael's 2nd DUI arrest -- he was popped in Maryland in 2004 when he was 19-years-old. He struck a plea deal with prosecutors and plead guilty in exchange for 18 months probation.

Trump Threatens To Sue Over Tweet

 

Billionaire Donald Trump has said he "may sue" a Twitter user who tricked him into retweeting an image of British serial killers Fred and Rose West.

Mr Trump shared the spoof message that claimed the pair looked at him as a "big inspiration" and asked him to "RT for their memory".

Later he tweeted: "I guess this teaches you not to be nice or trusting."

Teacher Jailed for Sexual Misconduct

Lauren Harrington-Cooper, a Pennsylvania teacher who had sex with two students, enticed the boys with a sick pickup line, investigators claimed.

She allegedly told them, “All the candy you need is right here.”’

Harrington-Cooper, a married English teacher, was sentenced to nine to 23 months in jail this week, according to the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader newspaper,  after she pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual contact with students  and two counts of corrupting minors.

The pastor has come under severe criticisms owing to the church’s collapsed building which killed at least 115 people.
